Zack Gibson Talks The Attention That The U.K. Wrestling Scene Has Garnered, And ‘PROGRESS’ Raising The Bar As A Company
Zack Gibson is ready for all eyes to be locked in on the U.K. wrestling scene.
Professional wrestling in the United Kingdom has garnered a great deal of attention and one of the performers a part of that scene is one-half of the current PROGRESS Tag Team Champions Zack Gibson. Gibson spoke with the Daily Star Online as he shared his thoughts on the growth of U.K. wrestling and what makes the scene unique.
“I think if you look at wrestling in the UK now it is growing steadily and for what is going on now people need to keep on spreading it. Word of mouth has been a big thing and the actual draws of the show have been getting bigger and bigger. The on-demand has been almost like the new tape swapping, it’s like the old school Led Zeppelin when you couldn’t actually buy their music and had to see them live. The shows have a punk rock feel, and that needs [to keep] going until some mainstream outlet picks it up.” Gibson said.
Today, PROGRESS Wrestling is presenting their 'Super Strong Style 16' show which is currently on-going. Zack Gibson went on to praise the company for being at the forefront of the rise of wrestling in the United Kingdom and providing competitors such as himself with an opportunity to shine.
“People are not coming because they like wrestling and we are a ‘cheap’ alternative, people are traveling from across the show to see PROGRESS. People want to see the talents and product as stars in their own right.” Gibson added: “PROGRESS has built up this aura where everyone pushes a bit harder because they want to steal the show. The company keeps raising the bar and bringing in new punters and new eyes, you just have to keep on going for it as no one wants to be left behind. We have created this environment where everyone wants to outdo each other and it’s just a good place to be.”
Fightful will have results posted once PROGRESS' 'Super Strong Style 16' show concludes. Keep an eye on the site to be aware once the results are uploaded.
