Undefeated Manny Bermudez says all the pressure is on Davey Grant at UFC Liverpool
Manny Bermudez is looking to keep his undefeated record in tact later this month at UFC Fight Night Liverpool when the competitor takes on Davey Grant.
The man with the perfect MMA record made his UFC debut at few months back at UFC On Fox 28, but it was the impact the fight had on the community that Bermudez remembers most.
“It was crazy man, so many people have seen it. Everybody in my hometown went out (and seen it) and people I don’t even know came up to me afterwards when I was around town, they’d be like ‘I watched you fight and we watched it here with so and so, we watched it there with so and so.’ Its cool seeing all the community come together and watch my fights, its really cool,” Bermudez says in an exclusive interview with Fightfuls James Lynch.
Bermudez now competes outside of North America for the first time in his professional MMA career, as UFC Fight Night Liverpool is taking place on England.
Even though Bermudez is undefeated heading into the bout against Grant, one thing he believes is all the pressure lies on Grant’s shoulders.
“Davey gets a lot of finishes to, but I think what he does more is probably rock people and then submits them. He doesn’t have very many knockouts, but I can’t really see this one go to a decision either. Some guys are prone to decisions, I’m not prone to decisions. Davey is kind of a finisher to, so I think whatever way it goes…its gonna be a good fight. Its gonna be two tough guys going at it, I think Davey being older…he has a little more to…he has to put his feet down and impress everybody. I know that I’m just getting onto the roster to, so I’m not going down easily. I’m gonna go for his next,” says Bermudez.
UFC Fight Night Liverpool takes place on Sunday, May 27 from the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England with Stephen Thompson and Darren Till headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
