Jake “The Snake” Roberts Agrees To Drop Charges Against Davey Boy Smith Jr.; Smith Jr. Still Wanted By Police

The two men have put their issues to the side.

At WrestleCon during WrestleMania weekend there was a reported altercation between WWE Hall Of Famer Jake "The Snake" Roberts and current NJPW star Davey Boy Smith Jr. PWInsider reported that those who witnessed the altercation stated that Smith Jr. walked up to Roberts' WrestleCon booth and tossed a cup of coffee at him. Security then came onto the scene and cleared out the area. Davey Boy Smith Jr. left the venue before police arrived.

In "shoot" interviews Jake Roberts partook in he has had his fair share of negative comments about Smith Jr.'s father The British Bulldog. The comments that were made about Davey Boy Smith Jr.'s father was the reported reason as to why he tossed the cup of coffee at Roberts. This lead to Roberts filing charges against the former 3-time IWGP Tag Team Champion

F4WOnline is reporting that the two put their differences to the side this past Monday with a conversation that was set up by WWE Hall Of Famer Bret Hart. Smith Jr. apologized privately to Roberts and this morning he released the following statement apologizing publicly and revealing that Jake "The Snake" agreed to drop the charges that were placed against him:

"I'd like to announce publicly and officially that I spoke with Jake Roberts on the phone today and we squashed heat we have for what happened at the WrestleCon event," wrote Smith. "I apologized and said I would apologize publicly as Jake agreed he would be dropping any charges pressed against me. I'm a man of my word and I'd like to say sorry to any fans that I stressed with this situation also. I wish Jake all the best and glad that we squashed the heat. I actually had spoken to Roddy Piper before he passed away about the podcast Jake and he did. I'm certainly glad we worked things out, as Roddy died long after."

Despite the two putting their issues behind them the police are still in search of Davey Boy Smith Jr. According to Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet, the charges have not been dropped yet and a rep from the New Orleans police department gave the following statement to the site:

“Since this is a municipal charge, the victim can withdraw all charges by going through the city attorney’s office once the perpetrator has been located and either arrested or issued a summons. As far as we are aware, Smith is still wanted at this time.”
