Joe Rogan Says Conor McGregor Is Too Valuable For The UFC to Punish
Former UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor and compadres attacked a bus full of UFC stars a few days before UFC 223, allegedly trying to get at UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
UFC color commentator doesn’t think the UFC will ever punish McGregor for his actions, mainly because the fighter is worth so much money.
“There’s a level to the game where you’re so valuable – if Conor McGregor does a pay-per-view fight, especially if they do all that crazy nonsense with Mayweather – if they ever did that, they’re just printing money,” said Rogan on The Joe Rogan Experience MMA Show. “They’re printing money. It’s so hard for them to not take that money.”
Rogan had previously accused the UFC of giving the former two division champion special treatment when compared to other fighters.
While Rogan doesn’t know if McGregor will get punished by the UFC, one thing he does believe is that the Irishman will never fight in New York again.
“I don’t think New York is ever letting that motherf**ker fight there again,” said Rogan. “I just don’t think they’re gonna do that. They don’t play games. That athletic commission is a different commission. They’re new to MMA and that was embarrassing to them. Him throwing the f**king dolly and the fact that they let him get in there with all his boys, the whole thing was just so thuggish.”
McGregor did turn himself into authorities for what transpired and was released on $50,000 bail a short time later.
