Eddie Alvarez Wants To Welcome Nate Diaz Back To The UFC

Stockton native Nate Diaz hasn’t been seen in the UFC since a decision loss to former UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor at UFC 202.

There is currently no date set yet for Diaz’s potential UFC return, but former UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez wouldn’t mind welcoming him back to action.

“You know Nate always talks about keeping it real,” Alvarez said to ESNews. “Well keeping it real I beat his friend (Gilbert Melendez) up right in front of him while he sat cage side and he still didn’t do sh-t about it. So if he ever wants to come back, I’m right here! (Nate) can come get this!”

Alvarez has been way more active in the Octagon in comparison to Diaz, with his last fight coming against former WSOF Lightweight Champion Justin Gaethje at UFC 218.

The former lightweight champion even reveals that he was confronted Diaz backstage after a UFC fight in Mexico.

“With Nate in Mexico, I went up to him and said ‘Hey why do you keep looking at me like this. I’ve been cool with you and your brother,’” Alvarez said. “So he put his head down and wouldn’t look at me but said ‘You’re fighting my friend so f–k you!’. So I kind of started laughing and said ‘Man I’m like 30 something, I’ve got kids and sh-t, this fight stuff is just business for me. So I laughed it off and then the UFC decided to come in and break us up.”

It is highly unlikely that the bout would even come to fruition, as UFC President Dana White even stated that he doesn’t believe either Diaz brother ever fights again.
