Jerry Lynn Discusses Winning A Championship In WWE And Getting Fired Six Months Later

Jerry  Lynn says WWE did not have room for him after buying WCW.

During his career, Jerry Lynn has wrestled for nearly every major wrestling promotion and inspired an entire generation of light-heavyweight and cruiserweight wrestlers. In an interview with The Sportster, he discussed his short 2001 run in WWE where he won the Light-Heavyweight Championship.

"My first televised match, I won the light heavyweight belt from Crash Holly, but it didn't go anywhere very fastThat was a little frustrating, but I ended up not having a really good run with (WWE), because about six months in, seemed like right after I got there, they bought WCW. Well then they had twice as many people as they needed, and a lot of them were already built-up superstars. Six months in, I got hurt needed knee surgery, and that was the end of that. I got my walking papers," said Lynn.

Lynn also discussed his time in WCW which was unfortunate as he started wearing a mask and was injured. When he returned from injury to WCW, he found out the promotion had hired several masked Luchadores.
