Kyle Bochniak talks Zabit Magomedsharipov loss, 50k Bonus & What’s Next
Kyle Bochniak had an amazing performance a little under two weeks ago at UFC 223, but still suffered a unanimous decision loss to Zabit Magomedsharipov.
One thing that Bochniak willingly admits about the bout at UFC 223 is that the fight was nothing short of fireworks from bell to bell.
“Yeah, I definitely expected it to be fireworks…a gritty, tough fight. That’s what we prepared for and that’s what I was ready for. I though he would wilt sooner than that, the final 90 seconds of the third round is when I saw him gasp for air and look at the clock…it was a little to late at that point. He was a game opponent man, I knew he was gonna be a killer and I knew it was going to be fireworks,” Bochniak said in an exclusive interview with Fightful’s James Lynch.
The fight against Magomedsharipov was the fifth for Bochniak under the UFC banner, but it was also the fighters third loss in the promotion.
Bochniak and Magomedsharipov did walk away with $50,000 each for Performance Of The Night at UFC 223, money that Bochniak has a few ideas on how to use.
“I might upgrade my WIP a little bit, I don’t know. I’m on the market and I might get a car, I’m just gonna stash this money. I’m used to living like this, living small and paying my bills. It would be nice to stash that money, me and my wife, we have some debt to pay off and stuff like that. Its a big weight lifted off my shoulders, I’m a little more free and I can train without (worrying about when the next fight will happen). Now I have a little bit more freedom and it takes the stress off of my shoulders, to also have a little more fun and fun with this lifestyle,” says Bochniak.
There is currently no time frame as to when Bochniak could return to action or whom he could fight in that next appearance.
