Report: Donald Cerrone vs. Leon Edwards Set To Headline UFC Fight Night 132
Leon Edwards is cashing in on the fight he wants, and will likely headline a UFC show in Singapore on June 23 against Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone.
ESPN's Brett Okamoto reported this week that verbal agreements are in order for the two to headline UFC Fight Night 132, although the fight hasn't been made official and no venue for the card has been announced as of yet. Edwards told MMA Junkie radio last week that he wanted to compete against either Cerrone or Jorge Masvidal next because both are "highly ranked." In a twist of irony, UFC erased all of their fighter rankings Thursday.
Cerrone (33-10, 1 1 NC) was once a perennial UFC bonus machine, earning 17 of them across UFC and WEC. He recently halted a three fight losing streak, the first losing streak of his career. Since moving to welterweight in 2016, he's 5-3.
Edwards (15-3) is riding a five fight winning streak, which saw him earn all of his wins in Europe. He's also a former BAMMA Welterweight champion, and abandoned the title upon signing with the UFC in 2014.
Fightful.com will provide full-live coverage of the show, including a preview and recap on our weekly Holy Smokes MMA Podcast, hosted by "Showdown" Joe Ferraro.
