Paul Heyman Shares His Thoughts On The Reaction He Believes Brock Lesnar & Roman Reigns Will Receive At WrestleMania

The one behind the One in 21-1 opens up his thoughts.

The advocate for the current WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar, Paul Heyman will be working double duty come WrestleMania weekend. On Friday night Heyman will be inducting Lesnar's former rival Bill Goldberg into the WWE Hall Of Fame, and on Sunday night Heyman will be walking his monster down to the ring for Lesnar's WWE Universal Title defense against Roman Reigns. Before the busy week that awaits him, Heyman spoke with Digital Spy and discussed his eventful weekend which starts off with inducting Goldberg.

"I am inducting Goldberg because that was Bill Goldberg's specific request to WWE. Bill Goldberg personally requested that I induct him into the Hall of Fame. I have such respect for Goldberg as so far the one person who has truly taken the fight to Brock Lesnar in WWE. I also got a chance to witness him behind the scenes as a man, a husband, a father and I have the utmost respect for him as a human being and am honored to be the one to encapsulate this moment for him and be the one to formally induct him into the Hall of Fame. I also understand his WCW audience's passion that somebody from WCW be the one that inducts Bill into the Hall of Fame, but this was his wish and I would suggest that it is much a personal wish as it is a professional wish." Heyman continued, "And there is an entire audience of WWE fans that will tell you that Goldberg's match with Lesnar at Survivor Series, which Bill won in a minute and a half, was the crowning moment of Bill Goldberg's career."

Over the past few weeks on RAW building up to the WrestleMania rematch between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns, both men have received mixed reactions from the WWE Universe. Paul Heyman feels that the response from fans inside of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on April 8th will be "passionate", as he worded it.

"Passionate. I'm not someone who concerns himself with whether people pay to cheer Roman Reigns or whether people pay to boo Roman Reigns. People pay to see Roman Reigns. They pay to react to Roman Reigns. And whether it's 60,000 people who've paid to cheer Roman Reigns or 60,000 people who've paid to boo Roman Reigns, or 60,000 people who've paid to do both, there are 60,000 people who've paid to see Roman Reigns in the main event and that's evident in the fact that Roman Reigns has main evented now four consecutive WrestleManias." Heyman expressed, "When you consider the fact that top flight, tier one, Class A superstars have retired from sports entertainment because they could not get into the main event of WrestleMania even once, and Roman Reigns has now main evented four times, that shows you the enormous box office appeal of this WWE Superstar."

Other than Brock Lesnar, another man who Heyman has managed is former two-time WWE Champion CM Punk. Heyman was asked if he thinks a return to WWE is in Punk's future, but he stated that he believes Phil Brooks is no longer thinking about the WWE, considering his future in UFC.

"I don't think Phil Brooks thinks about WWE at all anymore. I would hope that he doesn't. I would hope that he is of the focused mindset in propelling himself into the ranks of UFC. I don't think it's a matter of positioning or money or spotlight anymore. I think it's a matter of his dream is to become a successful UFC fighter and he doesn't even have a thought regarding WWE, at least I would hope that he doesn't. Because I don't know how it would be considered productive for him to do so."

Paul Heyman would also discuss the name change of the WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal, The Undertaker's will to never quit performing, and much more. To read the rest of Heyman's comments, click here.
