Report: Gunnar Nelson Facing Neil Magny At UFC Fight Night Liverpool

A welterweight division attraction is coming to UFC Fight Night Liverpool according to Farah Hannoun as #9 Neil Magny faces #13 Gunnar Nelson.

Magny (20-6-0) has rotated wins and losses in his previous five UFC bouts, with his last bout being a win over former UFC Interim Welterweight Champion Carlos Condit at UFC 219. Magny has suffered a total of five defeats under the UFC banner, with four of those losses coming by KO/TKO and submission. Magny is coming off of his least active year since coming to the UFC in 2013, as the welterweight fought just twice in 2017.

Nelson (16-3-1) has won two of his last three in UFC competition, but the fighters last bout was a loss to Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC Fight Night Glasgow. Nelson is winless when headlining UFC cards, dropping fights to the aforementioned Santiago Ponzinibbio and Rick Story. Nelson hasn’t had a fight go the distance in over two years, holding a record of 2-1-0 in UFC bouts that go to the judges scorecards.

UFC Fight Night Liverpool takes place on Sunday, May 27 from the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England with Darren Till and Stephen Thompson headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
