Josh Emmett Wanted Dan Miragliotta To Do His Job At UFC On Fox 28
Josh Emmett suffered a knockout loss to Jeremy Stephens last weekend in the main event of UFC On Fox 28. The loss was a controversial one for Emmett, who was hit with what appeared to be some illegal elbow and knee strikes in the finishing moments of the encounter.
If there was one thing that Emmett would wish for at the moment, it would be for referee Dan Miragliotta to have done his job officiating the fight.
“I’m not saying he’s a dirty fighter at all, but after watching it, I just wish I had more of a fair chance,” Emmett said on The MMA Hour. “I wish Dan would have done his job. If he would have stopped the fight, I would have gotten a little time to recover or they maybe took a point away from Stephens. It could have been a completely different outcome.”
Emmett’s team had announced that the fighter is planning on appealing the loss, but it is unknown at this time if the appeal has been filed.
Outside of winning a potential appeal, one other thing Emmett would like is another fight with Stephens.
“I would like a rematch,” Emmett said. “I won the first round, I was winning the second round, doing really well. He caught me just perfect, little left hook on the chin. I was composing, getting back up and then I just felt like some of those illegal blows made it a lot worse for me.”
An appeal would have to be filed with the Florida State Boxing Commission, which could possibly overturn the fight result to a no contest or even a DQ win for Emmett.
