Luke Gallows Talks Tag Team Wrestling Being An Art Form, Reveals What Wrestlers He Wants To Come To The WWE, And More
Big Gallows speaks on something that he is well-versed and extremely experienced in, tag team wrestling.
The 34-year old, 15-year veteran of the pro-wrestling game, Luke Gallows, spoke with The Independent recently to discuss all things tag team wrestling. Gallows, who is a former 3-time IWGP Tag Team Champion and a former RAW Tag Team Champion, knows what it takes to be successful in the tag division because he, along with his partner Karl Anderson, have faced some of the best tandems in the world.
“I think the tag scene is hotter right now than I have probably ever seen it in my entire career and this is my 16th year in the business." Gallows added, “We have some of the best tag teams we’ve ever had in the history of WWE and you can tell that by the quality of the matches as well. I think it is at an all-time high right now. It’s highly-entertaining stuff with great teams, some of them who’ve been together for a while and who are highly-seasoned – it makes for a very entertaining product.”
Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson spent three years in NJPW, where the two men would run rough shot over the tag team division with the help of their faction-mates, The Bullet Club. But excluding the help from the Club, Gallows and Anderson handled themselves well in the ring and Gallows went over what it takes to have two different guys mesh well together to form a dominant team.
"Tag team wrestling is an art form and it is one of the purest in all of sports entertainment. I really enjoy it and I have spent a lot of my career as a tag team wrestler. My partner Karl and I complement each other very well; he's smaller and agile and is a great technician and I back that up with power so it is a nice blend and I enjoy that."
Gallows, as many others in the WWE would love to see their friends and fellow wrestlers come into the company. Gallows name-dropped a few of his former Bullet Club members who he'd like to see come into the walls of WWE.
"I'd love to have Leo Tonga and Bad Luck Fale. I'd love to see the Young Bucks come over. The Bullet Club has unbelievable talent all around the world, there's no denying it. There's Finn Balor, AJ Styles, Karl Anderson and myself in WWE right now and the guys who are competing in other parts of the world; we would welcome them all here in WWE."
Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson are currently on Monday Night RAW, but prior to the brand split, there were still a few teams that they were not able to work with and Gallows revealed the one team who he would love to step into the squared circle against, are the current SmackDown Live Tag Team Champions, The Usos.
"I'd love to get in the ring with The Usos again,” he admitted. “When we first came to WWE we went right into a feud with them and I thought we had great matches with them. There are a lot of good teams, but The Usos would be the one team I'd really want to mix it up with again right now, they are a hot act."
Gallows and Anderson will be a part of the WWE 'Elimination Chamber' PPV kickoff show, which we will will be covering along with the actual event. Our own Sean Ross Sapp recently did his 'Elimination Chamber' PPV preview and predictions. To take a listen to that, click here.
