Piledrivers And Blood Banned From New Orleans Wrestling Shows
Early April will feature a plethora of pro wrestling shows in the New Orleans area for WrestleMania weekend, but the state regulatory body is placing some rules on the events.
John Pollock of POST Wrestling reported Wednesday that the Louisiana Boxing & Wrestling Commission confirmed that both blood and piledrivers are outlawed in professional wrestling contests. The news came from Russel Naquin, who oversees wrestling in the state.
Wrestlers in the state are required to have a license and updated blood work as well. The piledriver issue was said to be one of safety, due to an injury that happened years prior. Pollock has additional details on the matter at this link.
WWE doesn't often have to deal with issues like these from regulatory bodies, but did stay off of television in Kentucky for several years due to their insistence that matches be stopped in the event that blood was drawn.
WWE, Ring of Honor, Impact Wrestling and several others are all running events in Louisiana in early April, including WWE WrestleMania 34 on April 8.
