Santiago Ponzinibbio Calls Out Donald Cerrone For UFC Fight Night Chile
Santiago Ponzinibbio is currently on the biggest winning streak of his UFC tenure, having won six straight bouts in the promotion.
The fighter would like to return to action at UFC Fight Night Chile and would like the opponent to be Donald Cerrone.
“The best options are Thompson and Cerrone because of their fighting styles,” Ponzinibbio told MMA Fighting. “It would be a great show against either one of them, but Thompson is saying that he’s injured. After such a beautiful performance last night, Cerrone would be a great option.”
Cerrone just ended a three fight losing streak at UFC Fight Night Austin, defeating Yancy Medeiros by first round TKO.
Ponzinibbio was really impressed by Cerrone’s latest performance and that may be the biggest factor as to why he wants the bout with “Cowboy.”
“I was watching Cerrone’s fight last night and he was really impressive,” Ponzinibbio said. “It was a good knockout. He has a lot of knockouts, and I think it would be a fun fight for the fans. Cerrone and I could do a fight that will go down in history, in an event that will already make history in Chile.”
UFC Fight Night Chile takes place on Saturday, May 19 from from a location to be announced in Santiago, Chile with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be announced.
