Ladder Match Set For WWE Royal Rumble

A new match is set for WWE Royal Rumble.

Friday’s edition of SmackDown opened with a strong message from Nick Aldis, as the SmackDown general manager issued a warning to Kevin Owens and told him to return the Winged Eagle Championship by the end of the broadcast.

Near the end of the show, Owens came to the ring with the title and came face-to-face with Nick Aldis. Owens refused to give the belt back at first, saying that he is using it as a bargaining chip to earn another shot at Cody Rhodes and the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Aldis took his threats to the next level, telling Owens that he’ll never set foot in a WWE ring again if he doesn’t give up the title. This prompted Cody Rhodes to hit the ring.

Rhodes refused to walk away from the situation, criticizing Owens for being similar to Roman Reigns during his days as the tyrant of The Bloodline. After talking about how he doesn’t do wrestling for himself anymore, Rhodes exclaimed that he wants a match with Owens where the referee can’t stop what he’s going to do to him.

Following Rhodes’ suggestion, Nick Aldis proceeded to announce that the Undisputed WWE Championship and the Winged Eagle Championship will be on the line when Owens faces Rhodes in a Ladder Match at the Royal Rumble event in February.
