Brody King Says His Goal Has Always Been To Wrestle In The Tokyo Dome, Names NJPW Stars He Wants To Face
Competing at the Tokyo Dome has been Brody King’s goal for a long time.
Competing at the Tokyo Dome has been Brody King’s goal for a long time.
AEW’s Brody King appeared in a video message during the NJPW World Tag League event on December 5 and answered David Finlay’s challenge for NJPW x AEW Wrestle Dynasty. If Finlay retains the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 19, King will challenge him for the title.
In an interview with NJPW’s website, Brody King discussed his upcoming match at NJPW x AEW Wrestle Dynasty.
“I’m always up for the challenge, and whenever I go anywhere I want to challenge the top guy. Whoever the most feared person is in that promotion. I think the War Dogs have staked a claim on being excessively violent, and David Finlay is the head of that snake,” King said.
King was asked about coming to the Tokyo Dome, and he noted that he thought he would compete there previously, but schedule conflicts and other circumstances got in the way. King emphasized that wrestling at the Tokyo Dome marked the fulfillment of a goal.
“There were many times during NJPW STRONG that I felt like going back to Japan might happen, but with schedule conflicts or whatever, it didn’t work out. When I beat Minoru Suzuki (Capital Collision 2022) it really felt like that was on the cards, but I joined House of Black in AEW and that took precedent for a while. Now even as I’m in House of Black, I’m able to have a lot more of my own vision and my own path. My goal has always been to wrestle for NJPW in the Tokyo Dome, so this is a real goal being fulfilled,” King said.
After King reiterated that wrestling in the Tokyo Dome had been a goal that he had always held, he was asked whether there was anyone else he wanted to face in NJPW. He expressed his interest in teaming up with his House of Black stablemates, and he also named Shingo Takagi as an opponent he was interested in.
“I’d love to do House of Black vs War Dogs, House of Black vs LIJ as well. Me and Shingo is a dream match for me. There’s a lot of people, a huge list of singles, tag teams, trios I want to wrestle, but Shingo Takagi is very high on that list,” King said.
NJPW recently confirmed that the ROH World Tag Team Championship will be defended at NJPW x AEW Wrestle Dynasty. More information is available here.
