During the December 9 episode of WWE Raw, Adam Pearce announced that Finn Balor and JD McDonagh would defend the WWE World Tag Team Championship against the War Raiders (Erik and Ivar) on the December 16 episode. The Judgment Day will be barred from ringside for the match.
Balor and McDonagh previously retained their titles against Erik and Ivar on the November 25 episode of WWE Raw.

WWE later announced that WWE Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker would defend his title against Ludwig Kaiser on the December 16 episode of WWE Raw. Breakker defeated Kaiser and Sheamus to retain his title at WWE Survivor Series, but Kaiser has continued to target the gold.
