Natalya Reflects On Being A Part Of The First-Ever Women’s ‘Royal Rumble’ Match
The 18-year veteran goes in detail regarding her experience competing in the Women's 'Royal Rumble' match.
Former SmackDown Live Women's Champion Natalya, posted her onto her blog that she regularly updates via the Calgary Sun. Natalya went in-depth as she pointed out specific moments in the match, such as: getting to interact with former seven-time WWE Women's Champion, Trish Stratus.
"Then there was my interaction with Trish Stratus. Trish slid through the ropes and came flying at me in the air with a "Thesz Press" as she entered the match at number 30. I slapped the Sharpshooter on my Canadian hero, but as fate would have it, I was "chick-kicked" out of the ring and eliminated by the WWE Hall of Famer who most inspired me to step foot into the squared circle. The fan inside of me smiled. I truly had made it."
Natalya was the 18th entrant in the Rumble and lasted nearly 26 minutes before being eliminated by the very woman who she praised in the transcript above, Trish Stratus.
"I was the 18th entrant in the Royal Rumble and competed in the match for nearly 26 minutes. I faced off against Carmella and Kelly Kelly, I eliminated my former Divas Champion rival, Michelle McCool. I took on Nia Jax with the help of Beth Phoenix. And, in a moment that got a great reaction from the fans in attendance, I embraced my former Divas of Doom tag team partner with the biggest hug I've ever given Beth, only to stay true to my "bad girl character" and quickly toss Beth over the top rope."
The former WWE Divas Champion would then go on to praise the competitors who partook in the match; reiterating that they have made history and will continue to break new ground for the women in the sport of pro-wrestling. Nattie would wrap up her article by thanking the women of the past and present for putting the work in so that they could have this moment. You can check out Natalya's full article by clicking here.
