Epico Colon Has Shoulder Surgery
Another member of the WWE roster is headed to the injured list.
Epico Colon had shoulder surgery on Wednesday, making a post after the operation on his Twitter account:
Epico had his most recent match on January 21, a Triple Threat tag match that also involved the Bludgeon Brothers and The Ascension. His injury comes a few months after the return of his cousin, Primo Colon, who missed several months in 2017 recovering from knee surgery. Moving to Smackdown last spring as part of the "Superstar Shake-Up", the team was repackaged as the Colons, playing up their family history in wrestling after a run as "The Shining Stars" as midcarders on the Raw brand.
neither Colon has appeared on WWE TV since the July 4 episode of Smackdown, when Epico Colon was part of a battle royal for a shot at the WWE U.S. Title. Epico continued to work live events while Primo recuperated, and they resumed as a tag team in September when Primo returned to the road.
There was a rumor last summer that the Colons had asked for their release.
Epico is the latest in a handful of WWE stars to suffer injuries in recent weeks. Click here for a complete injury report on WWE, as well as other promotions such as Impact, ROH and New Japan.
Epico is the nephew of WWE Hall of Famer Carlos Colon, a legend in Puerto Rico wrestling. Primo and former WWE competitor Carlito are sons of Carlos Colon.
