Title Fight Headlines LFA 35, Nick Newell Also Debuts
A bout for the vacant Legacy Fighting Alliance Women’s Flyweight Title will headline LFA 35 as Sabina Mazo is in action against Silvana Gomez Juarez.
Mazo (4-0-0) has already competed twice under the LFA banner, defeating both Jamie Thorton and Linsey Williams via head kick knockout. Mazo also won her first two professional MMA fights by way of decision, but hasn’t gone the distance in over two years. Mazo took a near two year layoff before debuting for the LFA in April 2017 and she has no amateur MMA experience.
Juarez (6-1-0) is going to be making her LFA debut in this fight and has only competed once in the last year-plus. Juarez has previously challenged for the Xtreme Fighting Championships International Women’s Flyweight Title, losing to UFC veteran Poliana Botelho by fourth round TKO. Juarez has only seen one of her seven professional MMA fights go the distance and that came against Vanessa Melo at XFC International 8.
Also, one time WSOF Lightweight Title challenger Nick Newell is returning from retirement to face Sonny Luque in the co-main event.
Legacy Fighting Alliance 35 takes place on Friday, March 9 from the Arena Theater in Houston, Texas with Sabina Mazo and Silvana Gomez Juarez headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on AXS TV.
