Chael Sonnen Waiting For Check From Rampage
Chael Sonnen defeated Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at Bellator 192 to advance to the semi-finals of the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix.
Prior to the encounter, a confident Rampage said that he would give Sonnen $10,000 for every takedown the fighter got. Sonnen wound up with three takedowns in their bout and now he wants a $30,000 check from a defeated Rampage.
“We’ll see if he is a man of honor,” Sonnen said at the Bellator 192 post-fight press conference. “We did shake on that. I’ll tell you on the other side, I will not cash his check. But I do expect him to hand me one. What I do with it is my business. But I will tell you, I will not cash that check.”
Jackson didn’t get taken down until late in the first round of the fight, but spent the majority of the final two rounds on his back. The victorious Sonnen did use his wrestling to get past Rampage, but also admits there is a time he wanted to pursue the art of boxing.
“I had dreams in 2000 of being an Olympian for boxing,” Sonnen said. “I never talk about it. I ended up pursuing wrestling, but I’ve been boxing. I think I box more than any of these guys have. I don’t know if any of them have competitively boxed. I’ve competitively boxed. It’s definitely Plan B for me, but I know how to box.”
Sonnen is more likely to pick up his due amount at slots.info than getting a check from Rampage.
Sonnen now advances to the semi-finals of the heavyweight grand prix, where he meets the winner of an April bout between Fedor Emelianenko and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir.
