Report: UFC 219 Third Highest Grossing PPV Of 2017

2017 ended the year for the UFC with UFC 219 and the main event saw women’s featherweight champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino defeat former women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm by decision.

The event has reportedly done well for itself, because Dave Meltzer of MMA Fighting is reporting that the show was the third highest selling UFC pay-per-view of the year. The show drew a reported 340,000 to 380,000 pay-per-view buys, with UFC 214 and UFC 217 holding the top spots on the list.

Since Ronda Rousey stopped headlining UFC pay-per-views in 2016, no other women fighters have been able to draw big pay-per-view numbers. With the only UFC PPV headlined by women doing good numbers without Rousey was UFC 200, headlined by Miesha Tate and Amanda Nunes.

Other bouts on the third highest drawing UFC PPV of 2017 saw Khabib Nurmagomedov defeat Edson Barboza, former UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Carla Esparza defeat Cynthia Calvillo, Neil Magny defeat former UFC Interim Welterweight Champion Carlos Condit and Dan Hooker defeat Marc Diakiese.

UFC 220 is the first pay-per-view event of 2018 for the promotion, it is going to be headlined by a pair of title bouts as heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic faces Francis Ngannou and light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier faces Volkan Oezdemir.
