Report: Tonya Evinger Injured, Off UFC Fight Night Austin
Former Invicta FC Bantamweight Champion suffered an injury and may be off the UFC Fight Night Austin card, where she was supposed to face Marion Reneau.
FanSided first reported the news.
UFC officials are apparently seeking a replacement to fight Reneau, who is expected to remain on the card at this time.
In an attempt to maybe fast track herself to a title shot after getting word on Evinger, a hopeful Reneau did use Twitter to issue a challenge to UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes:
Sucks! For both of us! Everybody in top 15 have bouts… except @Amanda_Leoa !– You down to scrap? —— https://t.co/WFCtYiJJxx
— Marion Reneau (@BelizeanBruiser) January 9, 2018
Reneau (8-3-1) has won two of her last three under the UFC banner, defeating both Talita Bernardo and Milana Dudieva. Reneau has seen her last five UFC bouts go to the third round and only two of those fights ended with a finish. Reneau has earned four victories in UFC competition and only one of those came over a ranked opponent (Jessica Andrade).
UFC Fight Night Austin takes place on Sunday, February 18 from the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas with Donald Cerrone and Yancy Medeiros headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
