Vaquerita bids farewell from the in-ring competition.
On the 9/24 edition of CMLL Informa, La Vaquerita spoke with host Julio Cesar Rivera regarding her status for the company. Despite having nearly 16 years as an in-ring competitor, Vaquerita revealed she would call it a career but would stay in the business.
Vaquerita announced she will be retiring from the in-ring competition, with her retirement match as a competitor set on the 11/3 edition of CMLL Dia de Los Muertos Show; however, Vaquerita did announce that she would be transitioning as the official referee for the CMLL Amazonas (CMLL’s Womens Division), starting on the 10/1 edition of CMLL Martes de Arena Mexico. She stated the following message:
“Dear fans, I have decided to retire as a professional wrestler. I will not be working as a wrestler, but I spoke with CMLL Staff and said that I wanted to be the official referee for the Amazonas and I got approved. There are a lot of mixed emotions, but I am excited for this next facet of my career”.
While Vaquerita never held a title in CMLL, she held Lucha Promotora Original Pro-Lucha’s POP Women’s Championship for 207 days, losing the belt to LuFisto.
While she was in the business for over 25 years, she made her CMLL debut on November 11, 2012, by teaming with Mima Shimoda & Zeuxis against Dalys, Lady Afrodita & Marcela. Her last match for CMLL happened on the 9/7 edition of CMLL’s Sábado De Coliseo show, teaming Tabata & Maligna against Amapola, Olympia & Candela in a two-out-of-three falls match. She also competed in two Luchas de Apuestas, losing a Mask vs. Mask match against Zeuxis in 2016 and a Mask vs. Hair against Reina Isis in 2022.
