WWE SmackDown (9/20/2024) Results: LA Knight vs Andrade For US Title, Tornado Tag, Cody Rhodes, More

Results for the 9/20/2024 edition of Friday Night SmackDown.

On September 20, 2024, WWE hosted a new episode of Friday Night SmackDown on the USA Network from the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California.

The show was headlined by LA Knight defending his WWE United States Title against Andrade El Idolo. The full results are listed below.

WWE Friday Night SmackDown (9/20/2024).

  • Tornado Tag Team Match – Title Shot vs. SmackDown Career: Nia Jax & Tiffany Stratton vs. Bayley & Naomi.
  • WWE United States Championship: LA Knights (c) vs. Andrade El Idolo.
  • Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns seek common ground against The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, & Tonga Loa).
  • Giovanni Vinci vs. Apollo Crews.

WWE United States Championship
 LA Knight (c) vs. Andrade El Idolo

Winner: LA Knight gets the victory after hitting Andrade with a BFT.

– There is a backstage segment with Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton. Jax says that Stratton might have to go to the Raw brand if they lose their Tornado Tag Team match.

– There is a backstage segment with Andrade and Carmelo Hayes. Carmelo says he has not seen a choke like that since the Kings lost to the Lakers. He told Andrade to “Throw the fries in the bag, you are washed.” The two begin fighting and have to be separated by WWE officials.

– Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns are meeting at Reigns’ alma mater Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia. They met at Bobby Dodd Stadium, where Reigns played Football. The two meet at the 50-yard line. Roman tells Cody that this is his city. Cody talks about how his family bled in this city. He says you played Football here, but he lives here. 

Roman tells Cody he has nothing to lose. Cody tells Roman he wants Roman’s word that he will have his back. Roman gives him his word he will have his back, but after he gets his Undisputed Championship back, Cody steps up to Roman, and Roman says, “You are in my way.” Cody tells Roman, “It is not yours to take.” Roman replies before walking away, “You’re in my way. You’re in my way in life.”

Giovanni Vinci vs. Apollo Crews

The match begins with Giovanni Vinci going right at Apollo Crews. He gets the upper hand for most of the match, but Crews reverses it and rolls up Vinci to get the pin. After the match, Vinci begins beating down Crews. The referee finally gets him to stop.

Winner: Apollo Crews

– Kevin Owens sits backstage, thinking about the meeting between Reigns and Rhodes. Byron Saxton asked him if he was willing to talk. Owens says, “No offense, Byron, but if I am going to talk about it. I am going to talk about it out there. [The ring]

Kevin comes out and is about to say how he feels about Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns. Kevin says, “I’ll be honest, I’m.” The Bloodline’s music comes out, and they begin exchanging strikes. The Bloodline beat down Owens, but #DIY makes the save. Nick Atlas comes out and says the main event will be Kevin Owens and #DIY vs. The Bloodline’s Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, and Tonga Loa.

Tornado Tag Team Match – Title Shot
 Nia Jax & Tiffany Stratton vs. Bayley & Naomi

Winners: Bayley & Naomi pin Nia Jax at the same time. 

The Bloodline (Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, & Tonga Loa) vs. Kevin Owens & The Street Profits

Before the match begins, Kevin Owens is in the ring, and # DIY’s music begins playing, but they do not come out. #DIY is shown backstage getting beaten down by The Bloodline. The Bloodline then heads to the ring and begins fighting Kevin Owens. The Street Profits came out to join Owens, and they officially replaced #DIY.

Owens ducks a clothesline from Tonga and nails him with the Stunner. Owen goes for the pin, but Loa pulls Owens out of the ring and launches him into the steps. The referee, Dan Engler, calls for the DQ. After the match, Dawkins goes after Fatu on the floor, but Fatu counters with a Suicide Dive. Ford follows up with a Plancha. Fatu lands a running haymaker on Ford and sends Dawkins into the timekeeper’s area. The Bloodline is going to attempt to put Owens through the table. We see Loa bodyslam Ford, and Fatu hits The Flying Splash

.The Bloodline will try to hit Owens with a PowerBomb, and DIY will make it to the ring to help try and make the save. Fatu releases a fury of superkicks, while Owens throws Loa into the steps. Fatu constantly rams Owens into the ring.  Cody Rhodes music hits and now he appears, he begins attacking The Bloodline with a steel chair. Fatu superkicks the chair out of Cody’s hands. Rhodes recovers Cody Cutter on Fatu. Rhodes turns around sees Owens holding a chair. In a moment of respect, Owens shakes Cody’s hand and embraces him as the producer credits appear and the show goes off the air.
