Zolani Tete, Rising British Prospects To Fight On February Card In London

Frank Warren is ready to roll in the new year with a big boxing card in London, headlined by Zolani Tete’s next WBO Bantamweight title defense.

It has been announced that Tete will defend his title against two-division world champion Omar Narvaez on February 10 at the Copper Box Arena in London.

Tete, a former super flyweight world champion, has been undefeated in fights since 2013, winning the interim WBO title in April by beating Arthur Villanueva back in April. He would later win the full title by knocking out Siboniso Gonya on November 18. The fight against Narvaez wasn’t one that Tete happily accepted as he has been trying to secure a unification bout with WBA and IBF champion Ryan Burnett.

“Where is Ryan Burnett at? I want to unify the Bantamweight division and he is standing in my way. I am willing to travel anywhere on the planet to unify the Bantamweight division. If Burnett wants me to travel to Belfast I will happily do it. If he wants to be considered a top fighter and seriously be considered a unified champion he should want to test himself against the best,” Tete said.

Other fights on the undercard include notable British prospects Daniel Dubois and Anthony Yarde fighting against opponents to be determined later. Bradley Skeete, who was one of the names WBO welterweight champion Jeff Horn was looking at as a replacement opponent after Manny Pacquiao withdrew his name from a rematch with Horn, will also fight on the undercard in what will likely be a British Boxing Board of Control welterweight title defense.
