Billy Corgan Addresses TNA Role Change, Speaks About TNA’s Future
Billy Corgan has finally spoken out about his new role as TNA President.
Corgan took to Facebook to post a video where he clarified that the Smashing Pumpkins are back in contact with each other, but that he’s proud of his work in professional wrestling with TNA.
“I’m president of the second biggest wrestling company in the world. I take it very seriously and the people in the business very seriously. I love professional wrestling, I’m not backing down from that. It’s an honor to be president of a company that has a rich history and will change the business I am now inhabiting as well,” Corgan said.
Former TNA President Dixie Carter moved into a chairman role, and Corgan will now take over day-to-day operations. As Fightful.com was the first to report last week, the reception backstage was positive. Corgan says that he’s willing to take chances to help TNA improve.
“I’ve stepped in on the ownership side, and partially in management. Can we make the coolest, edgiest, most groundbreaking wrestling company of the 21st Century? I think it’s possible. I think technology allows that. I’m excited about all that. Lots of good stuff all over the place,” Corgan says. “There are employees that work for this company, and talent in the ring. I now have a responsibility to them and their families to make sure this company is heading in the right direction, and do my best. If I lose and I fail because I tried, that’s life.”
