UFC President Dana White recently announced that the UFC is entering the world of professional boxing, maybe as early as next year.
Rumors recently surfaced of a potential super fight between Manny Pacquaio and UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor. The UFC President says that if Pacquiao’s people have started negotiating with the lightweight champion, then a legal battle may be heading their way.
“That would be weird, because (McGregor’s) under contract with us,” White told MMA Junkie. “If that’s true, I will be suing Manny Pacquiao and whoever is representing him.”
Another person that the UFC President isn’t too fond of is longtime boxing promoter Bob Arum. Arum recently took some shots at White after learning about his upcoming boxing venture, which has prompted a response from his longtime enemy.
“You’ll see, Bob,” White said. “We’ll see at the end. Bob’s the same guy who said the UFC would never work, and the UFC was loosing ‘oodles’ of money, whatever the (expletive) ‘oodles of money’ means. Look at what we’ve done and look at where we are. I mean, come on. At the end of the day, we’ll see who stands where when the smoke clears and the dust settles.”
It would seem like the war of words between the longtime boxing promoter and the UFC President may never come to an end.
