Conor McGregor Wants $100 Million for Floyd Mayweather Fight

A couple months ago while Conor McGregor was in retirement, talk had surfaced of a boxing match between himself and Floyd Mayweather. The proposed match had the sports world talking. McGregor though is under a UFC contract and would have needed the approval of the company to take such a fight. Dana White said he was willing to listen and told Mayweather all he had to do was call him.

Mayweather never called White, McGregor came out of his brief retirement and the UFC went to subsequently book the rematch between the featherweight champion and Nate Diaz for the main event of UFC 202.

McGregor held a media day on Friday at the UFC gym in Las Vegas and was asked about whether he was still interested in the boxing match against the legendary boxer. McGregor said he was but it would come with a price.

“Yeah, of course,” McGregor said during the session. “Right now I have Floyd running around the Showtime offices gathering my money. That’s what he’s doing. He’s running around the Showtime offices, begging for those executives to come up with $100 million cash for me to fight me. So as soon as he gets my money, we can fight.”

While he didn’t have a problem with Mayweather demanding the fight be in his realm, McGregor just wants to make sure he is financially taken care of.

“If you want to fight me, we can fight,” McGregor said. “If you need a specific rule set to protect you from a true fight, that’s no problem. Just make sure that money is there. As long as that money is there, then we can fight under your safety net of rules. But me, I don’t need rules. I am the f*cking rules.

UFC 202 takes place on Saturday from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas with the pay-per-view portion of the card beginning at 10 p.m. ET.
