Dolph Ziggler Discusses His Role In WWE
Dolph Ziggler says he has to start winning eventually to be credible.
For over a decade, Dolph Ziggler has been a part of WWE's roster. During that time, he has had different characters and a few title runs. On E & C's Pod of Awesomeness, Ziggler was asked by Christian if he felt regret sticking with WWE for so long without having a long main event stint. Ziggler said he was grateful for his time in WWE.
"I'm not a giant guy, so maybe in some other world I would have worked here for a year and a half as a caddy and a cheerleader and then went away. So I see the positives, I've been here almost twelve years and regularly on television," said Ziggler.
However, Ziggler claimed his ability to do his job has been stunted sometimes by the long losing streaks he has had.
"You get passed over a handful of times for a couple years, then you get more of a cult following and it gets hot. But after a couple years of not having the trigger pulled, the eight-year-old kids now know that you're in that role," said Ziggler. "Even my Live Event matches are a little hard for me to do my job because when I come out and a ten-year-old kid says 'I know you're losing," he continued.
Ziggler said he does not know what the solution to this problem would be. He saw himself as a "gatekeeper" for the new main roster members coming up from NXT. But he argued it does not mean as much if he has been on a losing streak for months.
"Wins and loses don't matter unless you're the guy who loses every single night," said Ziggler.
Also during the interview, Ziggler talked about his recent matches against Bobby Roode and he believes he was able to find success during some of those matches.
