Antonio Rogerio Nogueira’s B Sample Positive For Diuretic
Brazilian MMA legend Antonio Rogerio Nogueira was notified of a potential USADA violation for an out of competition sample that was collected on September 27.
The fighter’s B sample has been tested as well and the results say it has come back positive for the same diuretic that the first sample failed for.
Nogueira was supposed to fight Jared Cannonier this month at UFC on Fox 26, but was pulled from the event due to the potential violation.
During a media event this past October, the fighter spoke about the failed drug test and blamed tainted supplements for the problem.
"It must have been some tainted supplement because it was a small amount of diuretic," Nogueira said. "It’s funny because we did three tests. The first came back negative, the second was positive, and the third was negative. I’ve been taking the same supplements, that’s why we had the ‘B' sample tested to find out what really happened."
Since this is Nogueira’s first violation of the USADA and UFC drug testing program, the punishment he could receive can be up to one year. Nogueira has hired a lawyer to help handle the situation and he has yet to comment on the newest findings by USADA.
