Report: Marlon Moraes Steps In At UFC Fight Night Fresno
Aljamain Sterling was left without an opponent at UFC Fight Night Fresno after Rani Yahya pulled out of their fight due to an injury. However, former WSOF Bantamweight Champion Marlon Moraes has saved the day because he has agreed to fight Sterling on short notice.
This is all according to a Twitter post from Sterling:
The only Marlon that matters is a Wayans’ Brother and no “Magic” is gonna change that! —

Sterling (14-2-0) will enter the fight on the strength of a two bout winning streak, defeating the duo of Augusto Mendes and Renan Barao. Sterling is also a former Cage Fury Fighting Championships Bantamweight Champion, defeating Sean Santella to win the gold at CFFC 11 in 2011. Sterling has suffered only two defeats as a pro, coming in the UFC to Bryan Caraway and Raphael Assuncao.
Moraes (19-5-1) is looking to build on the momentum of his first UFC victory, which came over John Dodson at UFC Fight Night Norfolk. Moraes is the first and only WSOF Bantamweight Champion, defeating Josh Rettinghouse to win the belt in 2014. Moraes would defend the WSOF Bantamweight Title a total of five times before relinquishing it to sign with the UFC.
UFC Fight Night Fresno takes place on Saturday, December 9 from the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California with Cub Swanson and Brian Ortega headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
