Dustin Poirier Finishes Anthony “Showtime” Pettis At UFC Norfolk, Demands Fight
Back-to-back Dustin Poirier fights have ended in anticlimactic fashion after outstanding exchanges, but after UFC Norfolk Saturday night, he's hardly shy about his future.
Poirier defeated former UFC Lightweight Champion Anthony "Showtime" Pettis on his way to a "Fight of the Night" bonuses. Several punches, elbows, triangle attempts, cuts and the like led to an awkward close to the fight when Pettis submitted aftert a rib injury prevented him from continuing.

Round Three: The round begins with Pettis attempting a high kick against Poirier, Poirier scores a takedown on Pettis and he gets him in the seated position. Pettis scrambles to his feet with Poirier holding onto him, Poirier drags Pettis back to the ground and he gets back control. Poirier transitions to the full mount against Pettis and Pettis taps due to injury.

Pettis was transported to a local hospital after the fight. He's now lost 5 of his last seven fights, and moves to 1-1 since his return to Lightweight this year.
Poirier called out a former opponent in Eddie Alvarez after his victory. The two battled to a no contest in May at UFC 211 when Alvarez landed illegal knees to Poirier's head. Alvarez is scheduled to fight undefeated Justin Gaethje in December at UFC 218, and "The Diamond" was quick to say he wanted to face the winner of the bout.
