EXCLUSIVE: UFC 218’s Abdul Razak Alhassan: “Nobody Will Ever Take Me Down Again”

With two UFC fights and a Performance of the Night bonus under his belt, Abdul Razak Alhassan still balances work life while making a go at MMA.

In an exclusive interview with Fightful.com's James Lynch, Alhassan revealed that he never actually planned on being an MMA fighter, instead wanting to go to the Olympics to as a judoka. After a move from Ghana to Minnesota to Texas, Alhassan told Lynch he's still working to support himself outside of MMA.

"I manage security here in Texas. I'm a manager at a bar for security, so I do at night," Alhassan said.

Alhassan earned an extra $50,000 for his one minute knockout of Charlie Ward last year, but now moves on to his first UFC fight on American soil at UFC 218. However, he's not watched his opponent Sabah Homasi compete.

"I do not watch my opponents. My coaches watch their fights and we train accordingly. I don't want to worry what they do, I worry about what they do. Hopefully he comes and throws instead of trying to take me down…nobody will ever take me down again," said Alhassan.

In the full interview, Abdul Razak Alhassan (7-1) discusses his upcoming fight against Sabah Homasi (11-6) at UFC 218 on Dec. 2. Razak also talks about how he got into MMA, training at Team Takedown with Johny Hendricks and what he gets up to in his downtime.
