Dillon Danis Claims Conor McGregor Has A Better Ground Game Than Tony Ferguson

UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor is expected to make his UFC return in 2018 and according to his coach, the UFC Interim Lightweight Champion in Tony Ferguson may be his opponent.

Dillon Danis is a longtime Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and a training partner of the UFC Lightweight Champion. Danis states that when you compare the ground games of McGregor and Ferguson, McGregor is better.

“I don’t know what people judge that of off. I don’t know why they would say he has a superior advantage on the ground or stuff like that. People don’t even know what Conor’s Jiu Jitsu is like,” Danis told Submission Radio. “So, with me training with Conor so much in his Jiu Jitsu, I feel like he’ll be fine on the ground or even better (than Ferguson).”

McGregor has fought 24 times as an MMA fighter, with one career victory coming by submission, and all three of his career losses coming by submission. Ferguson has competed 26 times in MMA, with eight of his wins coming by submission and just one of his losses coming by way of submission.

Danis also claims that if the fight were to be a stand up battle, than McGregor would come out on top in that scenario as well.

“I think Conor’s going to pick him apart on the feet, most likely knock him out early or he can probably do whatever he wants with him. Tony’s very sloppy. If you watch his fights, he gets hit a lot, and when you get hit against Conor you go out,” says Danis.

The training partner of McGregor has yet to make his professional MMA debut, but he is signed to a contract with Bellator MMA.
