Rio Olympic Games Boxing: Day 7 Results
The women in Olympic boxing have finally begun their tournament in various divisions. Unfortunately for Morocco, two of their women are already out of the Olympics with losses on this day. For the men, the United States’ Nico Hernandez lost in the semifinals to Hasanboy Dusmatov of Uzbekistan. Dusmatov dominated the first two rounds and it took Hernandez that long to fight back, but in the end, the judges had already penciled in Dusmatov as the winner. Regardless, it was a good showing for Hernandez as he becomes the first one to medal in boxing since Deontay Wilder did in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
