Walt Harris & Mark Godbeer Rebooked For UFC 217
A heavyweight division attraction that was originally set for UFC 216 has been added to UFC 217 as Walt Harris is going to be in action against Mark Godbeer.
Their bout was canceled at UFC 216 following an injury to Derrick Lewis, which allowed Harris to face former UFC Heavyweight Champion Fabricio Werdum on just a few hours’ notice. Harris wound up being submitted early in the first round by the former heavyweight champion, and it was an arm bar that did the fighter in.
Harris (10-5-0) is entering the fight having won two of his last three under the UFC banner, defeating Chase Sherman and Cyril Asker. Harris went winless during his first run in the UFC, dropping bouts to Jared Rosholt and Nikita Krylov.
Godbeer (12-3-0) is looking to build on the momentum of his first UFC win, which came over Daniel Spitz at UFC 209. Godbeer also competed in Bellator MMA, where he dropped a fight to UFC veteran Cheick Kongo at Bellator 102.
UFC 217 takes place on Saturday, November 4 from Madison Square Garden in New York, New York with Michael Bisping and Georges St. Pierre headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
