Jose Aldo vs. Ricardo Lamas II, Mike Perry, Other Big Fights Added To UFC Winnipeg
Jose Aldo is set to make his return to the octagon in one of the last UFC shows of 2017.
It has been announced that #1 Aldo (26-3) will fight #3 Ricardo Lamas (18-5) in the co-main event of the UFC on FOX 26 card at the Bell MTS Place in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. That card, headlined by Robbie Lawler vs. Rafael Dos Anjos, takes place on December 16.
This would be the second fight between Aldo and Lamas. The two met in 2014, during Aldo's UFC Featherweight title reign, and Aldo won that first encounter. Aldo is looking to bounce back from his UFC 212 loss to Max Holloway with the UFC Featherweight title on the line. Lamas is riding a two-fight win streak since his UFC 199 loss to Holloway and has a 5-2 record since losing to Aldo.
UFC President Dana White also confirmed that #15 Mike Perry (11-1) will engage in a welterweight battle against #9 Santiago Ponzinibbio (25-3). Perry also scored a victory over Jake Ellenberger earlier this year, which also netted Perry Performance of the Night honors.
Perry, who has an 11-1 record in MMA, has won his last two fights, most recently earning Performance of the Night honors against Alex Reyes at UFC Fight Night 116. Ponzinibbio is on a five-fight win streak and recently main evented UFC Fight Night 113, defeating Gunnar Nelson via first-round KO.
