Bud Light Out, Modelo In For UFC Starting Next Year

For nearly a decade now, fans who tuned into a plethora of UFC events have noticed plenty of advertisements from Bud Light all over the Octagon and in commercial advertisements.

However, starting with the first UFC event of 2018, there will no longer be any Bud Light advertisements as they are being replaced by Modelo.

Ike Lawrence Epstein in the UFC’s Chief Executive Officer and he says if it wasn’t for Bud Light, the promotion wouldn’t have sent such a significant message in the sporting world landscape.

“When Bud signed on to be our sponsor, it sent a significant message that UFC was a real player in the sports landscape,” Epstein said to ABC News. “It gave us a tremendous amount of credibility with other sponsors. And not just sponsors. Television networks and venues and, frankly, anybody involved in the business of sports entertainment around the world.”

There is no word how much the new sponsorship deal with Modelo will make for the UFC or how much Bud Light offered them to stay on board.

It should be noted that the deal with Modelo is only for UFC events in the United States, so the promotion can seek similar deals for overseas events.

UFC 219 is going to be the final UFC event with the Bud Lite sponsorship deal, the promotions first event for 2018 has yet to be revealed.
