Season 2 Of GLOW Has A Start Date To Begin Filming
GLOW is one step closer to coming back to Netflix.
In August, it was revealed GLOW had been renewed for its second season. The show was coming off of a successful first season on Netflix and was especially popular among the wrestling fan community. The plot of the show was loosely based on the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling from 1986 but also featured contemporary wrestlers in some of the roles. Wrestlers like Joey Ryan, Alex Riley and Awesome Kong worked along side professional actors like Alison Brie and Marc Maron. This week, it was reported by PWInsider.com that GLOW would begin filming the second season on October 16th.
Fightful's own Anna Bauert reviewed the first season of GLOW. Bauert had high praise for the show and here is an excerpt from her review.
"I wish I had a show like GLOW to watch when I was younger. Where female relationships were the centerpiece, and the romantic relationships were presented in all their complicated, messy glory. Where the focus was on identity, on gender. One that highlighted the stupidity of societal gender ‘norms’. A show filled with women of all different races, colors, personalities, shapes and sizes. And full of tropes and situations women experience every day with such subtlety, and at times humor, that I feel the need to stand and applaud," wrote Bauert.
At the finals of the Mae Young Classic on Tuesday, some of the cast of GLOW was ringside for the match between Shayna Baszelr and Kairi Sane. They were pointed out and announced on the broadcast of the finals.
Fightful will discuss any developing details of GLOW's second season and the release which has not been given a date.
