Henry Cejudo Says He’s The One Who’ll Beat Mighty Mouse
Henry Cejudo picked up the first finish of his professional MMA career when he scored a TKO victory over Wilson Reis at UFC 215.
The flyweight star has fought and lost to UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson before, but he still says he’ll be the one to end the champion's reign.
“I’m the one,” Cejudo said after the event. “I know I’m the one. I have the style, I have the wrestling. I know I’m the one to beat Demetrious Johnson. No disrespect to these fighters, no disrespect to any of them. Anybody has that fighter’s chance, but I believe I have the style to eventually beat him, and I truly do believe that.”
There first encounter took place over a year ago at UFC 197, where Johnson earned a first round TKO win over Cejudo.
Cejudo may have just fought at UFC 215, but he feels that he is ready to fight the champion right away.
“Emotionally, I do want to fight him right away,” Cejudo said. “Technically, am I going to be ready for this guy? I don’t want to just fight Demetrious; I want to beat him. He’s been on my mind since he beat me. I’m a competitor, man. To get stopped in front of 20,000 people, that (expletive) hurts. I think about it a lot. There’s a reason why he’s the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world. That’s who I have to beat – not just fight, beat.”
Johnson was also supposed to be competing at UFC 215, but title challenger Ray Borg pulled out of the fight due to an illness.
