UFC Vet Competing On The Gonzalez – Rungvisai II Undercard

Nam Phan has spent the last fifteen-plus years competing in professional MMA, earning himself a record of 21-17-0 during that time.

The MMA fighter has slowly been transitioning to the world of pro boxing as of late, currently holding a record of 3-2-1 in the sport.

For his seventh fight as a pro boxer, the UFC veteran is going to be facing the undefeated Nick Frese (5-0-0). The bout is going to be contested at 147 pounds.

This fight between Phan and Frese is going to kick off the card, which will be headlined by the highly anticipated rematch between Roman Gonzalez and Srisaket Sor Rungvisai.

Phan recently announced that he was hanging up the gloves in regard to his professional MMA career and this is his first boxing match since the announcement was made.

During his stint in the UFC, the now retired MMA fighter earned victories over Cole Miller and Leonard Garcia, while suffering defeats to Leonard Garcia, Mike Brown, Jim Hettes, Dennis Siver, Takeya Mizugaki and Vaughan Lee.

If Phan is able to pick up the win over the highly touted prospect in Frese this Saturday Night, it is going to be the first time he has earned a win in the boxing ring since 2007.

Another UFC fighter in lightweight champion Conor McGregor recently crossed over into boxing, losing via tenth round TKO to Floyd Mayweather in "The Money Fight."
