Report: Batista Being Considered As 2018 WWE Hall Of Fame Headliner

With WrestleMania 34 less than eight months away, WWE is considering one former world champion to be the headliner for the 2018 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, former World Heavyweight Champion Batista is being considered to be the top name for the upcoming WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony, which will take place in New Orleans.

Batista's last WrestleMania match came in WrestleMania 30, which also took place in New Orleans. Batista lost a WWE World Heavyweight Championship Triple Threat match in the main event of that WrestleMania, losing to Daniel Bryan. Batista also won the 2013 Royal Rumble to win the spot in the main event of WrestleMania 30.

Batista wrestled for WWE from 2000-2010 and came back to wrestle for a few months from 2013-2014. Outside of WWE, Batista also has a successful acting career, starring in one of the lead roles for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy movies as well as the villain's lead henchman in the 2015 James Bond film, Spectre.

The former world champion appeared on Chris Jericho's podcast and said he wanted to return to WWE to do a retirement angle with Triple H, but the company was not interested.

"I've asked. I've asked for what I want, and I'll tell you. I've talked to Hunter about it and I've talked to Vince [McMahon] about it, I said, I would come back and run a whole program with Hunter. That's the only thing I'm interested in doing. They're just not interested in it," Batista said.

As far as other names that could be heading to the Hall of Fame, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter also notes that the Undertaker would be the headliner if he chooses and that The Rock will be the headliner whenever he so chooses to go into the Hall of Fame. The 2018 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony still does not have a date or a venue.
