Luke Gallows: In A Pure Pro Wrestling Aspect, There Are Strange Similarities Between The Rock And CM Punk
Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson weigh in on CM Punk returning to WWE.
CM Punk shocked the world when he returned to WWE at Survivor Series 2023 nearly a decade after walking out the day after Royal Rumble 2014. Luke Gallows has a long history with CM Punk dating back to 2009 when he was a member of the Straight Edge Society.
Speaking on Talk’n Shop, Gallows & Karl Anderson gave their thoughts on Punk’s return.
“Talk about headlines all week. Here’s the thing about CM Punk in WWE. No matter what your personal feelings are, from a fan perspective, a performer perspective, a wrestler perspective, a friend perspective, and ex-friend perspective, the one thing you can’t deny about the dude is that if you say his name and put him on a screen anywhere in the world, everybody is talking about him,” said Gallows.
Anderson added, “He elicits a reaction.”
Gallows concluded by saying, “He’s a polarizing character. That’s what this whole business is based on, being a polarizing character. I don’t think anybody has ever drawn the comparison before, but in a lot of weird ways, if you look at just the pure pro wrestling aspect of it, there are some strange similarities between Dwayne Johnson and Phil Brooks.”
The Rock and CM Punk did clash on the mic and in the ring in 2014.
But does CM Punk fly first class?
