At WWE WrestleMania XL Night Two, Drew McIntyre beat Seth Rollins to win the World Heavyweight Championship. After the match, he confronted CM Punk, who was on commentary. Punk attacked him, and Damian Priest capitalized by cashing in his Money in the Bank contract. Priest then pinned McIntyre to capture his first world title in WWE.
WWE has released a vlog that chronicled Priest’s cash-in and the aftermath. In the video, he can be seen celebrating with his Judgment Day stablemates backstage. Priest also hugs Triple H, among others. In one highlight, CM Punk comes up to Priest and tells him he doesn’t have to “carry around that stupid briefcase anymore.”
Punk is quite familiar with the Money in the Bank briefcase. He won the match in 2008 and 2009 and successfully cashed it in both times to win the World Heavyweight Championship.
Priest’s first challenger was determined on the April 8 episode of WWE Raw. There, CM Punk interfered and helped Jey Uso pin Drew McIntyre in a four-way match to earn a title shot.
