Rhea Ripley: I Wanted Becky Freakin’ Lynch And That’s Exactly What I Got
Rhea Ripley credits Becky Lynch for being who she wanted her to be.
Rhea Ripley discusses her victory over Becky Lynch on Night One of WrestleMania 40.
In the bout, Becky Lynch would battle not only the WWE Women’s World Champion but also strep throat. However, Lynch still took the fight to Ripley and pushed the champion to her limit. After an avalanche Riptide, Ripley was able to put the challenger away and continue her year long reign ruling the WWE women’s division.
While speaking in a digital exclusive posted to WWE’s YouTube after the bout, Ripley put over Lynch, noting that she wanted The Man, and that’s what she got.
“I’m feeling alive. I’m feeling like I’m on top of the division and I’ve not only shown that to everyone else, even though I’ve already been on top for so bloody long because Mami’s always on top like you know, Cathy. But now everyone, has just been reminded why I’m the dominant one. I’m Mami and why this is my division. Becky, she put up a fantastic fight like she always does. I knew that I was in her head and I was under her skin and I was going to get The Man that I wanted. I wasn’t going to get the mother. I wasn’t going to get the wife. I wanted Becky freaking Lynch. I wanted The Man. That’s exactly what I got, and you know what? I went in there and I beat The Man. You know why? Because I’ve said it before on Raw, but behind every great man is a greater woman and I just proved my point.”
During the post night one press conference, Ripley would credit The Four Horsewomen era with living forever. You can read more about that here.
