Jacob Henry Says He Was Just As Fooled As Anyone Else By His Father’s Fake Retirement Speech In 2013
Mark Henry was even lying to his own children.
To this day, fans still talk and joke about the segment between Mark Henry and John Cena that took place on the June 17, 2013 edition of WWE Raw. In the segment, Henry, who was sporting a salmon suit, revealed to fans that he was retiring from the sport of wrestling. John Cena, who was the WWE Champion at the time, participated in the segment and helped fans give Henry a proper sendoff.
It all turned out to legendary ruse, as Henry picked up Cena in the final moments of the segment and planted him to the mat with a World’s Strongest Slam. Cena and Henry would go on to feud for a couple of weeks until the Money In The Bank event, where Cena defeated ‘The World’s Strongest Man’ in a singles match for the WWE Championship.
As it turns out, Mark Henry’s son, Jacob Henry, was also shocked by his father’s sudden attack on Cena in the segment.
“I 100% agree.” Henry said in a reply to a tweet stating that Mark Henry had done irreversible damage to retirement speeches. “As his son I can say that I was just as much fooled as anyone else.”
