Shayna Baszler discussed her journey to stardom in WWE.

Shayna Baszler transitioned from MMA to wrestling, and she has had a successful run with the company. Among other accolades, she is a former NXT Women’s Champion and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion.

Speaking on WWE’s The Bump, Shayna Baszler, Liv Morgan, and Natalya were asked to describe the biggest hurdle they have had to overcome to get to this point. Baszler noted that she does not fit the typical prototype of what people look for in a marketable women’s athlete.

Shayna Baszler: The immediate answer I have is that I am not, on paper, right away, the prototype of what people look for in a marketable women’s athlete. Yes, I’m marketable, but I’m just saying, I’m aware I’m not…I don’t even know how to explain it.

Natalya: To me, you’re way prettier than Cindy Crawford.

SB: [Laughs] I’m not talking about how pretty I am or how…there was a box.

Liv Morgan: There was a box, there was a stereotypical box. Luckily, she broke that box, but there was a box.

Baszler: There was a box, and I was outside it. I’m not trying to take away from anyone in the box [laughs], but I’m just saying, I’m very aware going into things, or I was very aware, of that box, and I’m not in that box, so what can I [do?] To be fair, my coach Josh, he was always very big on, this is gonna make him sound so mean, but not in a mean way at all, I look at him like a second father. But you’re not in this box, so let’s make a box for you. That’s been my hurdle. I’m not someone that when you are picking in a lineup that is going to be that first pick perhaps.
