Edge Once Considered Joining Christian In TNA
Edge says TNA once made him an offer he almost couldn't refuse.
In an interview on Talk is Jericho, Edge talked about a crossroads he met in his career. He had been in WWE for over a decade with virtually no breaks. He admitted the travel and activity were having adverse effects on his body. He would take a break from WWE at this point and then retire a few years later. Edge said during the break TNA (now known as Global Force Wrestling) reached out to him with a compelling offer.
"I don't know how word gets out about contracts being up and things like that. There was one point my contract was coming up and TNA reached out to me. (Christian) was there. They reached out to me and they told me numbers, schedule, and all of these things. For me at that point, schedule was the thing like 'that would be a lot easier on the body,'" said Edge.
The lighter schedule was not the only tempting part of TNA, which had Samoa Joe and AJ Styles on the roster at that time.
"And the opponents, There's Samoa Joe, There's AJ (Styles). There's a lot of fresh things to do. But for some reason, from day one WWE felt like my home," said Edge. "(WWE) did put that faith in me, they did pull that trigger with me. I felt like I couldn't look that gift horse in the mouth," he added.
Edge never signed with TNA and his tag-team partner Christian would eventually leave TNA and return to WWE in 2009. Edge's last match was at Wrestlemania 27 and Christian has not wrestled since 2014. The two of them host a podcast together and have appeared on the WWE network recently.
