Report: The Young Bucks Insisted On Sting Winning His Last Match At AEW Revolution

Sting did not want to win at AEW Revolution, and the Young Bucks believed he deserved to retire with a victory.

Sting competed in his last match at AEW Revolution, as he and Darby Allin defended the AEW World Tag Team Championship against the Young Bucks (Matthew and Nicholas Jackson). Sting scored the victory for his team, so he went out as a champion. At the post-show scrum, he said he had some resistance to this outcome.

Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated reports that there was plenty of conversation about the match during the planning process, and the objective was to give Sting the match he wanted. Barrasso writes that those involved, including Tony Khan, felt that it was very important for Sting to win the bout. However, Sting himself was said to be one of the only people who disagreed.

Barrasso reports that Sting wanted to give the major moment to the Young Bucks. However, Khan and the Bucks believed that Sting deserved to go out on top. Per Barrasso, everyone agreed that the situation called for a happy ending, as that would be best for AEW. The report notes that those on the broadcast team were not told what to expect, and only a small group of people knew about the finish in advance.

Barrasso also reported that there was a Plan B for the finish if Darby Allin was unable to continue. More information is available here.

The Young Bucks are set to appear on the March 6 episode of AEW Dynamite. Fightful will have coverage of the show as it airs.
